Bruce McLaren founded Bruce McLaren Motor Racing in 1963 at age 26, becoming the youngest Grand Prix winner at the time. The team grew from a small racing outfit into one of the most successful Formula One teams in history, winning eight constructors championships and 12 drivers championships.
McLaren Automotive, the road car division, was established separately in 1985. The McLaren F1, launched in 1992, was designed by Gordon Murray and became the worlds fastest production car with a 386 km/h top speed, a record that stood until 2005.
McLaren has maintained a technology-focused approach, emphasizing carbon-fiber monocoque construction and weight reduction across all its models. The MP4-12C, launched in 2011, marked the beginning of modern McLaren production, followed by the P1 hybrid hypercar and the Senna track-focused model.
